Cruz Bay Watersports is a multi-faceted watersports and SCUBA diving operation on the U.S. Virgin Island of St. John since 1982. Professional and friendly staff along with a strong eye for detail and a drive for the highest standards of service have always set us apart in the Caribbean.

In 1978, Marcus and Patty Johnston and two of their friends embarked on a sailing adventure aboard their 35 foot sailboat, "Dragon Lady". Departing Seabrook, Texas they crossed the Gulf of Mexico to the Florida Keys and then island hopped through the Bahamas. From the Bahamas they sailed through the Virgin Islands and the eastern Caribbean.

After cruising and living aboard for four and half years Marcus and Patty decided that St. John was just the type of island they had been searching for in all their travels. St. John had the most beautiful beaches and underwater wonderland of any island they had discovered.

Initially, they did day sails on "Dragon Lady" for Caneel Bay Resort. After a short while, Marcus wanted to branch out and conduct snorkel tours on a power boat. The need to have a booking office and small store was satisfied by founding Cruz Bay Watersports in August of 1982. The 26-foot "SPLASH" was their first powerboat used for snorkel tours.

After a few years CBW had become a scuba diving operation and the 40-foot "BLAST" was designed and built for that exact purpose. As the company grew from no employees to 5 employees, the "HI DIVE", a 30-foot vessel, was custom built by Marcus and crew on St. John. In 1993, they realized they needed yet another vessel to accommodate all their guest's requirements. So the 38-foot "SEA QUEST" was custom-built of aluminum and to this day, is still running 7 days a week.

As the years passed and the staff grew so did the need for another vessel. The most recent addition to their fleet is the 60-foot Express cruiser, "ISLAND TIME" and a 60' sailing catamaran "ISLAND SPIRIT". Based on our years of experience in the charter business we have outfitted these vessels with all of the features and amenities you would expect. They are very modern, state-of-the art excursion vessels. Fast and comfortable with a sun deck and a shaded deck, onboard refrigeration to keep beverages just the right temperature, two full size toilets, easy boarding ladders with warm fresh water shower rinse, a tender for guests who don't swim, stereo throughout and upholstered seating are just some of the features of "Island Time" and "Island Spirit".

The addition of a Parasail boat, waverunners, rental dinghies and non-motorized paddle boats, kayaks and Aqua Finn sailboats, has vaulted CBW to the status of the largest Watersports company in the Virgin Islands.
